Rengstorff Park is the center of my neighborhood, and I'm running to make the neighborhood and our city a better place.

About me and why I'm running

I grew up in Los Altos, and I attended Montclaire Elementary and Cupertino Middle School, both part of the Cupertino Union School District. From a young age I was interested in current events. My parents encouraged me and my siblings to read a newspaper article every day, and at the dinner table we would share what we had learned. My mother’s Catholic faith inspired her to send her kids to Saint Francis High School in Mountain View. I’m grateful for Saint Francis because my teachers and my peers supported my academic, spiritual, and social growth. I made life-long friends, and we often explored Castro and Cuesta Park in our free time.

I went on to study Government and Economics at Harvard University. I wrote my senior honors thesis on the Paris Climate Accords and how they were negotiated in six Latin American countries. Since my mother is from Venezuela and she taught me Spanish as my first language, this research was a natural fit for me. My research question focused on how a country’s wealth interacted with the inclusiveness of its political system when determining how much pollution to eliminate as part of the Climate Accords. This was where my love of political inclusion was born. Ever since, I’ve always asked myself, how can we include every resident in our democracy?

After graduation I campaigned for Vice President Kamala Harris’ primary campaign in New Hampshire and Iowa. Kamala’s campaign is where I learned community organizing and how to get people excited about a cause.

When I came home I was lucky enough to get my dream job, working for my Congresswoman Anna Eshoo. I’m deeply inspired by her leadership and the profound impact she’s had on the history of our country. As a Field Representative, I keep track of what’s going on in Mountain View and numerous other cities in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. That means listening to city council meetings, being out in the community, and working directly with constituents. I help constituents in the areas of immigration, Veterans services, housing, small business, the Postal Service, education and more.

I moved to Mountain View in 2021 and immediately felt at home on California Street. I enjoy chatting with neighbors, playing basketball or watching tennis at Rengstorff Park, and having fun on Castro Street. I’m running for City Council because of Mountain View’s people. Every day I’m amazed by your kindness and vision of a city that’s welcoming and prosperous for all. I want to help that vision become a reality.
